Making your own website is not at all difficult. The time that you spend considering your selection of contents, text and images will probably be more than than time spent putting it onto the website. On the following pages you can make your selections and upload what is necessary to create your own website step by step. You may however prefer to know beforehand what it is that you need to present on your site so that after some thought and planning, you can come back to enter all your images and information in one go. Site name. In the example artist.exto.org the word artist is the site name. Pick this one with care as it cannot be changed, it must be easy to remember and have something to do with you. Personal Information. We want to know a few things about you, e.g. your real name (site name may be an alias), contact information etc. Be assured that we will honour our privacy statement where we (amongst other things) tell you that we will never give the information to others and also not send you commerical mail. However we ask you to put real info here. This is enough for now! You’ll be wanting to start showing your work and talking about it. That begins now: Info pages. Visitors to your site usually want to know a little bit about the artist. Perhaps you already have a text that you use at exhibitions, that is usually a good one to start with. You can make multiple information pages each telling a different story. HOWEVER do not make information pages for each individual artwork, that comes in groups and artworks. Groups. If you have quite a few works of art then visitors may lose the overview. Therefore you must order them into groups. You first make a group and then create the works inside the groups Works of art. if you want you can show a fair amount of works. Be sure to maintain sensible/logical groupings and put enough explanatory text with each of them. |
